Nancy Wait was born in Chicago and grew up in Manhattan.She began her professional life as an actress in England during the 1970s, performing in film, TV and theater.Then she returned to New York
and took up painting, a career that included commissioned portraits,
commissioned building renderings, and a series of visionary
paintings.She moved to Park Slope in 1992 to raise her child, and
painted pictures of the Slope in the mid-nineties, becoming one of the
founders of an artist group called Brooklyn Visions.By the end of the
nineties, she decided to go back to college and write her memoir, A Mask With Wings, a book about growing up with dreams of an acting career and what happened during her sojourn in England.
